GREASE: RISE OF THE PINK LADIES

Designing Costumes for this Musical, the first thing that comes to my mind is “GREASE IS THE WORD”. Grease: Rise of The Pink Ladies takes you back to the Fabulous Early 1950’s Era where the audience is immediately hooked with an energetic, rambunctious musical performance. We are introduced to Rydell High youth culture at the Drive In; Socs, Jocks, Nerds, Thespians, Band, Wallflowers and more, all enjoying the last night of summer!!!!
Looking back, designing the Costumes for the first three episodes of The Pink Ladies has become a highlight in my career. This was an extremely challenging project which involved a huge repertoire cast, multiple dance sequences, intense teenage encounters and all the excitement that came with the Birth of Rock and Roll!!!
Inspired by 1950’s Vintage Clothing, Hollywood Glam, Street Photography, Family Albums, High School Yearbooks, Fashion Trends of the Day and the Craze of Rock and Roll, we crafted personal styles for our characters that broke away from the traditional expected 1950’s attire.Using flares of vibrant colours, varying patterns, textures and silhouettes along with 21st Century influences, we achieved a fun, playful, high-spirited look for “Rise of Pink Ladies”.
